HIPAA 5010
On January 15th, 2009 the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) released the final rule requiring compliance with HIPAA 5010 transaction and code set standards. As a trading partner your organization must be ready to exchange 5010 transactions by December, 2010 and must exchange only 5010 transactions by January, 2012. ICD-10
On January 15th, 2009 HHS also released the final rule requiring compliance with ICD-10. The number of codes has increased from 17,000 to 155,000.
